Florist Angels Project

This project was started by Jackie Host president of the Garden Club of the lakes, Inc, FFGC in cooperation with Lori Stevens, Owner of Lather and Lace, a florist & gift shop in Melrose one of our boosters.  Lori offered to donate her left over flowers to make arrangements for hospice and nursing home.  Jackie started making arrangements and enlisted other members to help.

The “Florist Angels” Project is a major success story.  Above are KHHS FFA members putting together their first arrangements for Park of the Palms Nursing Home.  They are getting flowers the first Tuesday of every month from Sweet P’s, GCL member Ursula Wida gets them for Haven Hospice the 2nd week, The KH Woman’s Club gets them the 3rd week for Windsor Manor Nursing Home in Starke and GCL members Beth Bisson, Shirley McKendree and Jackie Host among other GCL members get them the 4th Tuesday of each month and GCL members pick up contributions from Lather and Lace whenever they have flowers.  The “Angels” are sending over 100 arrangements a month to nursing homes & hospice patients in the Lake Area.   This project is definitely a labor of love.  Bring your old vases to the next meeting as we can always use them and be sure to tell Sweet P’s and Lather and Lace how much we appreciate there donations…and hey; how ‘bout a big hand for the KHHS FFA!!   Just tell any officer if you would like to join the “Angels”.
