McRae Elementary School Butterfly Garden
Our Club has adopted the McRae Elementary School Butterfly Garden as a project and has worked with students at the school and Girl Scouts to maintain the garden and educate the youth about butterfly morphology and the native plants they use as nectar and host plants.

The year 2008-2009 has been a busy time for Girl Scout Troop #1359. They have worked very hard with members of the Garden Club of The Lakes.

June 1, 2009 - Members of the Carden Club who worked with the scouts. Ursula Wida, Buddy King, Cheryl King, Joan Valantine, Cheryl Owen & Jackie Host (taking picture). The Scouts presented the Club with two native plants (which were planted directly in the butterfly garden).

The Garden Club and Girl Scout Troop #1359 have had a great working relation ship this year.

We are very proud of the work they have done and badges they have earned while working on the McRae School Butterfly garden. Garden Club President Jackie Host said the club is looking forward to working with Scouts again next year.

This is the gardening badge (center), community service badge (left) and butterfly badge (right) that the Girl Scouts received for their work.
